Farm in winter

Farm in winter 5.1.13

A glorious mild and sunny day. I ended the day, (well the daylight hours as it is dark by 4.30pm) with a long run just before dusk and took this photo of a local farm. I was thinking that scene hasn’t changed for hundreds of years but then there is one significant difference; hay now comes in large rolls rather than square bales, which is very different to my youth and it is unusual to see the latter now. It is one of those things that has changed the countryside scene along with bright yellow fields of oilseed rape. Still, it is important to remember the countryside is about production and not just scenery. People have to make a living.
