View of an English churchyard

Churchyard 5.2.13

It was a bitterly cold but sunny day today and the churchyard looked lovely and peaceful as I passed.  It looked almost like spring, (but it felt very much like winter).  I find churchyards very calming places.  Part of this one is given over to wildlife and allowed to become overgrown; this will give rise to a wonderful display of wild flowers, insects and bird life in a few months time.   I can’t wait for spring to arrive.

Despite the dismal and macabre feelings people have about these places they make a good subject for a photogenic project and provide lots of interest, love the shot, very tranquil.

Thank you. I absolutely agree with you about churchyards. As well as being a great subject for photography, they are full of stories and I find them such a peaceful oasis, even in the city.

I hope you will show us some photos of the churchyard in spring. It must look lovely with the wildflowers.
