The sap is rising

Angry Canada Goose

This is one very scary Canada Goose who was making himself as big and fearsome looking as he could to see off a love rival.  I think he succeeded.  I would definitely get the message if I was the other goose.  It’s that time of year again, (at least in the Northern Hemisphere it is) when the natural world begins to make plans for reproducing.  I used the expression ‘the sap is rising’ and I’m not sure how commonly used that expression is outside the UK .  For anyone who may be scratching their head and wondering, here is the definition according to the Cambridge Dictionary.

the sap is rising

said to describe a feeling of increased interest in and energy for romance and sex

Thank you. I sometimes reflect as we welcome spring many will be slipping into autumn.

Pretty impressive posture! Would worry me if I was a competitor.
