Swan Launching

Swan launch b

This is a much reduced version of an image of an adult mute swan just launching into the air.  The photo was taken on my local lake.  I try not to post too many swan photos (as I love ’em)  but I wanted something beautiful for Easter Sunday and for me they don’t come much more beautiful than the swan.  I will have a rest from swans for a while now, (promise).

Very, very nice. I’d always be happy to see more.

Thank you. I think I could start a ‘swan blog’.

Thank you but I have an awful lot of swan photos. This shot is one of about twelve I took as it started to beat its wings, gain lift and then skim the water. I never tire of taking them. When the weather improves I know I will be out taking more. I am fortunate to have the opportunity on my doorstep to take photos of these and many other wonderful creatures. I am really pleased people seem to enjoy them as much as I do.

One can never have too many swan photos… especially for those of us who don’t get to see too many in real life…. beautiful capture… I bet it looks wonderful as a larger image too!

What a beautiful shot! I’m hopeless at capturing birds in action.

Thank you very much. I could start a swan blog with the number of swan shots I take. If ever a bird exemplified beauty and power, this is it. I was really pleased that this shot seemed to capture the power of the lift.

    Beautifully captured!

Birds in flight are beautiful, yet hard to capture. The wing position in your photo captivates me. I can look at this swan for a long time and not tire of it.

Thank you. This is one of a sequence I shot as it began beating its wings and then lifted off. I really like the sequence and this one especially.
