Confused

Confused duck r

This duck was a little confused as she settled down in a tray of water left out on the patio for the birds.  Not much room for a swim or anything else but she seemed happy and stayed for ages along with her chosen mate.  There is definitely no shortage of water around here so although they appeared to be prospecting for a nest site I’m not sure why she felt the need to pick such a small body of water.  Anyway, it made me smile and they eventually went off together in search of a place with a little more room for a growing family.

How funny. Perhaps the water in the dish was a perfect temperature.for her. Or maybe she thought the dish made her look more attractive; enhanced her loveliness.

Thank you. They had returned this morning when I opened the curtains and were looking around the garden. Unfortunately I had to encourage them to fly off as I have two large rescued ex racing greyhounds and it would have been duck for their breakfast if I hadn’t. They seem very attracted to my garden for some reason, even though there are three large lakes very near by.

They seem to have taken a shine to the garden as they were swimming around my pond yesterday and waddling around the lawn as if they owned the place.
