Pirate out shopping

There can be few places in the world today where you can see a pirate out shopping with his wench and everyone thinks it’s normal.

P.S.

I don’t think they were real pirates, just dressing up.

Is that because it’s Pirate Day? If you talk and dress like a pirate at Krispy Kreme today, you get free donuts, right?

I wasn’t aware it was ‘Talk Like A Pirate Day’. This was taken in a small coastal town in England and they were having a pirate festival, which I think was aimed at children but the adults seemed to have taken to it with great enthusiasm and elaborate costumes. In the evening I sat down to dinner with someone across the table dressed like Long John Silver and passers-by would make pirate noises at you in the street. Very funny but a little weird.

Sounds like the opening scene of a novel…

It does now you mention it. Maybe I should carry on writing it.

The guy on the far right is in shock and the gent in the middle can’t believe what he is seeing 😉 Very nice!

oh, try Newtown in Sydney. I saw a lady bigger than I, doing her shopping in a pink tutu and leotard with pink ponytails. This, I am assured, is her regular dress. Nobody bats an eyelid.

I think that speaks volumes about tolerance of people that are a little different. Sounds like a good place to live.

Are you sure they aren’t real pirates? – Oh wait, of course, no parrot – that’s a bit of a give-away.

We saw pirates at the Goth festival at Whitby in May. Like these. http://marshland.wordpress.com/holidays/whitby/
I like the simplicity of your blog. I’ll visit most day from now on.
    cheers
