Spiders need loving too

Orb web spider

I know they’re not everyone’s favourite but you have to admire spiders, (well I do). Intelligent, brave, strong, and fantastic parents (but they do have a nasty habit of sometimes eating their partners). Close up they are fantastic and formidable creatures. This fabulous specimen, (which I think is a gravid Green Orb Web but may be wrong) was huge. Anyway, spare a little love for the spiders of the world, we can’t all be butterflies.

Gorgeous. Spiders are absolutely huge here (apart from the venomous red back spider which is tiny) and many are deadly so we admire them from a distance.

Of course we don’t have that problem in the UK. We are fortunate not to have anything dangerous at all. The wildlife of Australia is fascinating to me, from crocs to sharks to Skippy. I hope one day to experience some of it.

Oh, I would love to. I can’t imagine the sense of space and the landscape. The wildlife is magnificent. I would be in photographers’ heaven. I hope one day to make it there and be able to take the time to really explore.
